Getting Started

What is NORMA?

NORMA is a wellness companion app designed to help you understand whether your symptoms are within the normal expected range for your health situation. It’s not a medical device and does not diagnose — it provides reassurance and escalation guidance based on your personal health context, including diagnoses, medications, procedures, and your menstrual cycle.

How do I create an account?

Download NORMA from the App Store or Google Play. You can sign up with your email address, or use Apple Sign-In (iOS) or Google Sign-In. No payment is required to create a free account.

How does NORMA keep me safe?

NORMA is designed with safety first. It always encourages you to seek professional care when symptoms fall outside expected ranges, and includes a clear emergency reminder (call 000) for urgent situations. It never diagnoses or recommends treatment changes.

Is NORMA a replacement for my doctor?

No. NORMA is designed to support you between appointments, not replace your healthcare provider. It helps reduce anxiety about expected symptoms and prompts you to seek care when something needs professional attention.

What information does NORMA use?

NORMA uses the health context you provide in your profile — including any diagnoses, medications, procedures, and menstrual cycle data — to personalise its responses. The more context you add, the more relevant NORMA’s guidance will be.

Care Profiles

What is a care profile?

A care profile stores the health context for one person. You can add yourself, then add family members (partner, child, parent, sibling, grandparent) as additional profiles. Each profile has its own health history, symptoms, and tracking data.

How do I add a family member?

From the home screen, tap the profile selector at the top, then tap “Add Profile.” Enter the family member’s name, select their relationship to you, and create the profile. You can then add their health context including conditions, medications, and procedures.

How many profiles can I add?

Free plan: 1 profile (yourself). Household plan: up to 5 profiles. Extended plan: up to 10 profiles. Upgrade your plan at any time through the app settings.

What health context can I add to a profile?

You can add: medical diagnoses (e.g., Type 2 diabetes, asthma), current medications, recent procedures or surgeries, and for female profiles, period tracking data. The more context you provide, the more personalised NORMA’s guidance becomes.

Can I delete a profile?

Yes. Go to the profile, tap Settings, then Delete Profile. Note that deleting a profile permanently removes all health data, documents, and history associated with that profile.

Symptom Guidance

How do I ask NORMA about a symptom?

Select the profile you want to check symptoms for, then tap the AI chat icon. Describe what you or your family member is experiencing in plain language. NORMA will assess the symptom against the profile’s health context and provide guidance.

What does NORMA’s response mean?

NORMA provides one of three types of responses: (1) Reassurance — your symptom appears to be within the expected range for your situation. (2) Watch and wait — worth monitoring but not urgent. (3) Seek care — this symptom warrants professional review. NORMA always recommends calling 000 for emergencies.

What counts as an AI call?

Each initial question you ask NORMA uses one AI call. Follow-up messages within the same conversation do not count as additional calls. Your AI call quota resets at the start of each calendar month.

What sources does NORMA use?

NORMA draws on Australian health information sources and evidence-based clinical guidelines. It does not generate novel medical opinions and always defers to authoritative sources. Uncertainty is flagged clearly when guidance varies.

Period Tracking

How do I log a period?

From the main screen, tap the Period Tracking tab (calendar icon). Tap the start date of your period to log it. You can then record flow level (light, medium, heavy), symptoms (cramps, bloating, mood changes), and other notes. Tap the end date when your period finishes.

Is period tracking available on the free plan?

Yes. Period and cycle tracking is available on all plans, including the Free tier. No subscription is required to use this feature.

What cycle data does NORMA track?

NORMA tracks: period start and end dates, flow intensity, associated symptoms (pain, mood, discharge, other), cycle length over time. Over multiple cycles, NORMA can identify patterns and provide context for appointments.

Can I use NORMA’s period data at my appointment?

Yes. NORMA is designed to help you have more informed conversations with your healthcare provider. You can view your tracking history in the app and show it to your doctor or specialist during consultations.

Subscriptions & Billing

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to Settings in the NORMA app, then tap Subscription. You can view available plans and upgrade securely through the app. Payments are processed by Stripe.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings > Subscription > Manage Subscription. You’ll be taken to the Stripe Customer Portal where you can cancel. Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period.

What payment methods do you accept?

NORMA accepts all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay may be available depending on your device.

Privacy

What data does NORMA collect?

NORMA only collects information you explicitly provide: symptoms, cycle data, medications, and health context. We do not access your contacts, location, or other device data unless you choose to share it.

How is my data stored and secured?

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. NORMA uses secure, compliant cloud infrastructure with strict access controls. We never sell or share your personal health information with third parties for advertising.

Who can access my health information?

Only you. Your NORMA data is private to your account. You can choose to share summaries with healthcare providers during consultations, but NORMA does not automatically transmit data to clinicians, insurers, or employers without your explicit consent.
